About Midtown

Midtown is the part of Miami that feels most like a neighborhood on foot. The 56-acre Midtown Miami development replaced a rail yard in the mid-2000s with a grid of mid-rise buildings over ground-floor retail — Target, Trader Joe's, a dozen restaurants, gyms and coffee — and the streets around it have filled in since with The Standard Residences, Hyde Midtown and a run of new boutique buildings.

The location is the draw: the Design District's luxury retail is a five-minute walk north, Wynwood's galleries and bars are directly west across North Miami Avenue, and Edgewater's bayfront park is ten minutes east. I-95 and the Julia Tuttle Causeway to Miami Beach are both minutes away by car.

Midtown condos are smaller and lower than the bayfront towers — mostly 12- to 34-story buildings with one- and two-bedroom plans — and they trade on walkability rather than views. That keeps entry prices below Edgewater and Brickell while the retail underneath keeps demand steady.
