The Flanigan's Index measures proximity to the nearest Flanigan's location with additional credit for having multiple locations nearby. Scores range from 0–100 because science demanded it.
How the score is built. 80% of the score is proximity: a building within half a mile (805 m) of a Flanigan's gets full marks, and the credit decays exponentially until it reaches zero at 8 miles (12.9 km). The remaining 20% is density: how many Flanigan's locations sit within 5 miles, saturating at four — a backup plan is worth something.
What we measure. All distances are straight-line ("as the crow flies") from the building's coordinates to the restaurant's front door. They are not walking, driving or boating distances, and water in between does not count against you. Locations come from Flanigan's own locations page and are re-checked weekly; a location that disappears from the source for three consecutive checks drops out of the index.
