PAMM to Host Major Picasso, Klee, and Matisse Exhibition

The Pérez Art Museum Miami will debut a major exhibition of European Modernist works from the Museum Berggruen collection starting October 29.

New Exhibition at PAMM

The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will open the "Picasso–Klee–Matisse: Masterpieces from the Museum Berggruen" exhibition on Oct. 29. According to the Biscayne Bay Tribune, this marks the first time the museum has dedicated its largest galleries entirely to Modern art.

The exhibition features nearly 100 works from the Museum Berggruen and the Berggruen family collection, along with selected pieces from PAMM's permanent collection. The collection was assembled over four decades by art dealer and collector Heinz Berggruen (1914-2007).

Featured Works

The exhibition includes works by Latin American Modern masters such as Wifredo Lam, Diego Rivera, and Joaquín Torres-García. Featured pieces include Pablo Picasso’s La Lecture (Woman Reading) (1953) and Portrait de Jaume Sabartés (1904). Other highlights include Paul Klee’s Landschaft in Blau (1917) and Henri Matisse’s Éléments végétaux (1947). The exhibition also features sculptures by Alberto Giacometti and Paul Cézanne’s Portrait de Madame Cézanne (c. 1885).

The exhibition is co-curated by Maritza M. Lacayo of PAMM and Natalie Zimmer of Museum Berggruen. Lead support for the exhibition is provided by Aaron and Dorothy Podhurst, Patricia and William Kleh, and Kenneth C. Griffin and Griffin Catalyst.
